Titans of the Dance Floor Competition

The competition categories include Detroit Ballroom, Chicago Steppin, Swing, Group (4 or more) Jack & Jill and Purple Prestige.  Each category has a cash prize of $500 per duo. Table seating is not included in the registration fee for all contestants. Contestants must be 18 years or older. Click the link to register -->  Contestant Registration  Registration Fee 

 

The 6th annual Titans of the Dance Floor Competition will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Embassy Suites Charlotte-Concord Golf & Spa Resort.  Contestant details will be sent in a separate email.  

  • Competition entry does not include entrance to Titans Weekend event. Ticket required.

  • Minimum of 3 couples is required for category payout. Must be registered NLT August 31st, 2023.

  • Greater than 4 couples per category, dance heats will be in play.

  • Contestants must be 18 years or older

  • Edited music must be emailed in mp3 format to TitansoftheDanceFloor@gmail.com by August 29th, 2023

Judging

Contestants will be judged by a panel of selected judges and all contestants agree that all decisions of the judges are final. All contestants agree that the time, manner and method of judging the competition will be solely within the discretion of the judges and contest officials.  Decisions of the judges are final and cannot be negotiated.  Should there be any questions or concerns regarding scores or judging, a contestant will have an opportunity to approach the Executive Judge only, upon appropriate request at the end of the competition.  Please reference the dance category rules to ensure adherence to the judging parameters.

In the unlikely event of a tie for 1st place, scoring by the Executive Judge shall break the tie.

 

Judgment Criteria

  • Appearance: Overall neatness, creativity and visual balance

  • Originality: Creative placement of combinations and visual animation of the dance

  • Technique: Sound fundamentals of the dance; control of balance and weight; hand connection; posture; timing (as it relates to the chosen dance style)

  • Choreography: Overall creativity

  • Overall Presentation: Overall visual and emotional connection with one another and the audience

  • The dance style performed must be exhibited throughout the entirety of the routine.

 

Note: Un-sportsman like conduct, harassing or threating of judges will result in immediate disqualification.
